Kibbutz Inbar – October 10 – 23, 2012
With Simultaneous English Translation
Dear yogis and yoginis,
We are so happy to invite you to Israel, where Swami Swaroopanana will continue to guide us through a true Svādhyāya, in a reading of the second chapter of Patañjali Mahārṣi's Yoga Sūtras.
The course will take place in Kibbutz Inbar, which is nestled in the heart of the green mountains of the Galilee, amidst the sacred sites for both the Jewish and Christian traditions.
Take advantage of this unique opportunity to broaden and deepen your practice in the company of other yoga teachers, while enjoying a stay in the Holy Land and the beautiful and tranquil setting of the Galilee.
The course offers a unique opportunity for an in-depth study of Rāja Yoga, the royal path to Enlightenment, and its mother-text, the Yoga Sūtras Patañjali Mahārṣi.
Rāja Yoga deals with four basic principles: Suffering, its origin, liberation from suffering and the means for attaining liberation. The second chapter is practical and methodic. It directly deals with the mind of the spiritual aspirant, leading him stage by stage on the path of true freedom. These stages are:
- Yamas and Niyamas – the basic moral foundation, restraints and observances
- Āsana and Prāṇāyāma – the attainment of steady pose and the control of the vital energy
- Pratyāhāra and Dhāraṇā – withdrawal of the senses from objects and concentration
- Dhyāna and Samādhi – meditation and the super-conscious state
Swami Swaroopananda will share with us his profound, vast knowledge and spiritual wisdom and teach the verses alongside classic commentaries made by great yogis from the ancient tradition of Advaita Vedānta, especially Vyāsa Mahārṣi and Śaṅkarācārya.
The teaching will be given within a yogic frame of life, including daily satsangs, yoga āsanas and prāṇāyāma classes, yogic-vegetarian nutrition and karma yoga (selfless service).
